About the College

Sissiborgaon College was established in the year 1992 in an area that was socioeconomically and educationally very backward, and where devastating floods affected the common and rural people yearly. The main occupation of the majority of the people in the area is cultivation.

The vision of the institution is to impart higher education to the students of poor and downtrodden flood-affected families of this locality. Besides teaching and learning, the college has given due attention to extension activities. The Extension Activities Committee has carried out various community development and awareness programmes with a view to making the college a community education centre in the near future.

Constant efforts are being made to develop games, sports, social and cultural environments, and to address current socio-economic problems to enable students to become responsive citizens in a rapidly changing technological society. Therefore, the college has also emphasized value-based education, inculcating social, moral, and ethical values among the students with a view to moulding them into responsible individuals and good citizens.

Sissiborgaon College is an institution with an Arts faculty offering Honours courses in eight subjects. It is affiliated with Dibrugarh University and is striving to introduce computer education and other co-educational systems.
